Description:Bust-view of small, red-haired boy with ringlets and hair parted on his left. He is wearing a dark blue cape or jacket fastened at the neck over a white or light blue shirt. His expression is extremely solumn and he is looking directly at the viewer with dark blue eyes. The background is a mottled blue.

Notes:The subject died as a child and was the son of Harriet Vose Babcock and LeMan Burrill Babcock of Fulton, New York. His death date was 8 December 1863. He was born at the Babcok Homestead at or near Syracuse and Fulton, NY.
