Description: Young woman wearing an off-the-shoulder red bodice over a white lacy shirt. Her dark hair is parted in the middle and she has an ornament in it to the right of her face. The subject is facing toward the viewer in an oval frame and in a waist length view and is looking at the viewer with bright blue eyes.
History of Work: The painting descended in the Grundy, Wharton and White families of Nashville, Tenn. Jane Eliza White was the daughter of Gen. William White and the grandmother of Mary Bass Cole, both of Nashville, TN. Jane Eliza's brother George Wharton White' portrait was also painted by artist Cooper.
