Description:Bust-length portrait of a man facing slightly right but with his head turned to look directly at the viewer. He is wearing a military jacket, shirt, and tie, and his jacket has the medals and insignia indicating his service and his assignment. His short, dark hair is parted on his left.
History of Work:Portrait was created posthumously from a photograph. Portrait of the owner's father given to her mother by the commanding general of Peterson Field, Colorado Springs, CO following the death of the subject in a plane crash while on active duty in the USAF.
Notes:Col. Beatty was born 1902 in Athens, GA and died February 4, 1948. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, TN.
