Description:Frame is gilt metal, old, but not original. Oval of a young man with curly reddish hair, large brown eyes. He is clean shaven except for sideburns that fall to his white shirt collar. He is wearing a blue jacket with 8 brass buttons visible, and a black tie.
History of Work:Painted in New York City. On a paper glued to the back, and supposedly on another paper inside the case, is written "Given to / Harvey Beck 14 / Feby. 1842 by his / father / Samuel Beck / Born in Phila. 10 Mar. / 1794 / & / Died in New York / 17 Dec.
