Description: Portrait of a young woman in a short sleeve white dress with a white, black, and red ermine wrap. Her left arm holds the wrap at her shoulder, her right arm crosses her mid-section. At her right elbow are a white rose and a red rose (symbolic of eternal love). Portrait is in a rectangular gilt-gesso frame with oval interior.
History of Work:
Notes:Gertrude Bosley (1843-1863) married Powhatan Bowling in 1862 and died in childbirth in 1863.
