Description: Three-quarter length portrait of subject seated in armchair with his right elbow resting on the arm and the hand on his crossed right knee. His left arm is completely on the arm of the chair. He is facing slightly left with his head turned to look directly at the viewer. His head is nearly bald, and he is wearing a dark suit and vest and has a blue bow tie at the neck of his white shirt. His shirt cuffs show out of the coat sleeves, and he has a white pocket handkerchief.
History: Portrait commissioned by son and wife (William B Brown and Harriet H Brown)
