Description:Young man in black coat, buttoned vest, tie and white shirt. His left hand rests in his lap and his right hand hangs gently on his right lapel. Hair is brown, wavy, and cut at mid-ear. The image is oval.
History:Subject was a friend of the artist.
Notes:Subject (1840-1863) was wounded at the Battle of Perryville, Aug. 8, 1862. He was the son of Daniel F. Carter.
