Description:The subject is seated beside a red-covered table facing three-quarter left with his left arm resting on the table, which also holds a book. His suit is black over a white shurt and wide black banded tie around his high collar. His head is turned to face the viewer, and his greying hair is combed straight back showing a slight widow's peak.
