Description:Subject seated in Chinese-style chair upholstered in dark wine velvet wearing a dark double-breasted suit with a white handkerchief in pocket, watch on left arm. Left fingers folded with part of thumbs showing. Two first finger showing, two first joints, two other fingers folded back. Right hand resting on his knee which is crossed right over left. Red and blue striped tie and white shirt - hair dark with grey around temples. Auburn eyes hair parted on left side. Coloring is hearty.
History of Work:Governor of Tennessee 1939-1944 - served three two year terms. Portrait is duplicate of portrait that hangs in Tennessee capital. Borth portraits painted by Howard Chandler Christie as his mother wanted to own one personally. Frame is gold leaf from Peru.
