History of Work:Records concerning the history of the drawing are not located in the archives materials of the First Baptist Church.
Notes:In 1831, Reverend Gayle became the third pastor of the First Baptist Church. He served until 1834, when he left Nashville to preach on the Tennessee frontier. Later pastorates included churches in Haywood, Madison, and Shelby counties in the western part of the state.
