Description:Subject is facing slightly to viewer's right and looking a viewer. He wears a black coat, cream-colored vest with white shirt and scarf tied in bow. He has greying hair, receding on sides, and piercing blue eyes.
History of Work:This came to current owner through grandfather's family, Richard King Gibson, Jr. It hung in the dining room of Elizabeth Varnell Gibson Madden.
Notes:Born 1777 and died 1840 in Nashville.
He was a Congressman, a U. S. Senator and a Democratic leader.
Born in Virginia; lawyer at age 20.
