Description:Seated three-quarter portrait of a woman in a pink dress cinched at the waist with a dark belt. The stand-up collar is trimmed in white as is the opening down to the waist and the ends of the cuffs. Her left arm is resting on a book placed on a table. She is wearing a brooch, two rings on her left hand, and her left earring is visible. Her dark hair is parted in the middle and gathered at the back of her head.
History of Work:Martha Travis Harris was the wife of Tennessee Governor Isham G Harris and is a distant great-grandparent of the owner's family.
Notes:Portrait in excellent condition, frame in need of repair. The brooch she is wearing is a picture of her husband, Isham Harris.
