Description:Subject is facing viewer and looking slightly to viewer's left. He wears a black coat with a medal pinned on his left lapel. He wears a white shirt and has a white beard and mustache and brown hair with blue eyes. The background is blue and grey.
History of Work:
Notes:Capt. George Harsh, Company E, First TN Infantry - Confederate Army, captured at Shiloh, released after 3 months.
He went into business and built his home "Elm Grove" on Bledsoes Creek in Sumner County, Tennessee.
He was born in 1827 in Harrisburg, PA and died in 1895.
Married __________ Guthrie from Smith County, TN. She died shortly after and he next married Talitha Newby from Grant, TN. They had eight children. His 3rd wife was the widow of James K. Polk's nephew. She was called Mammy Kirk, and they had two children.
