Description:A man dressed in a black suit with a white pleated shirt and a heavy black banded tie around this shirt's stand-up collar. His black hair is parted on his left, and he is facing three-quarter right and looking to the left of the viewer. Only his right hand is visible, and it rests on a table or a pedestal to his right.
History of Work:This is a reproduction of an original Cooper portrait.
Notes:Major Lewis M. Maney was the son of Dr. James Maney. Major Maney's grandfather was Col. Hardy Murfree through his mother, who was the daughter of Col. Murfree. Lewis Meredith Maney was born in 1823 and died in 1882. He married Rachel Cannon, daughter of Gov. Newton Cannon.
