Description:Full-length of three children ranging from approximately two years to eleven or twelve. The young boy, Albert, is dressed in black with a yellow tie. He holds a pink rose in his right hand. His bangs show one separation. The older girl, Ida, holds the younger dauaghter in her lap. The older wears an elaborate low-cut dress trimmed in lace, pink crinolines, and button-up boots. The young child, Amy, wears a white dress and socks and blue Mary Jane shoes and holds a lighter pink rose. The foreground has roses and blue petuntias, among other flowers.
History: A nearly exact duplicate of this work hangs in the home of the owner's sister-in-law. Only side-by-side comparison would properly reveal the slight differences. For example, in the other canvas Albert's bangs have a few separations to reveal more of his forehead, whereas in this canvas he has only one. Minor variations in the flowers on the floor also exist, and the direction of the childrens' gazes seems to vary slightly in each work.
Notes:Amy Payne 1877-1957.
Ida Yeatman Payne 1868-1923
Albert Bronson 1870-1895.
