Description:Three-quarter portrait of a young woman wearing an evening dress with a low neck and facing left. Her elbow is resting on the chair, and behind her is a red-curtained window with a view of trees. She is wearing no jewelry.
History of Work:Copied by Sara Ward Conley from an original portrait. Conley was an art teacher on West End Avenue, two doors from former governor's mansion (now razed) and across from Vanderbilt University.
Notes:Subject born March 19, 1807 in Knoxville, TN and died August 22, 1877 in Murfreesboro, TN.
