Description:Three-quarter length seated portrait of a woman with short curly white hair. Subject wears a dark blue gown with a sheer sleeves. Front is low cut with ruffles at collar and cuffs. Blue bow belt at waist. Subject sits on gold settee. Right arm rests on arm of settee. Mottled multi-colored background.

Notes:Subject was born in Nashville in 1909. She was the Regent of The Hermitage. She along with her husband (Mr. Fred Russell) founded Harpeth Hall School. Subject's husband, Mr. Fred Russell, was a sports writer for the Nashville Banner. Subject is owner's mother.
