Description:Bust-length of subject wearing a dark red dress with a white lacy collar ornamented by a rose-hued ribbon that ties loosely at the v-neck. A flower of the same hue is at the nape of her neck on her right and anchored in her dark, middle-parted hair. She is gazing directly at the viewer and wearing a half-smile.
History of Work:Painted by an unknown artist in 1850.
Notes:Elizabeth Little Vance, born June 18, 1818, in Mongomery County, Tennessee, the daugher of Samuel Vance and Elizabeth (Brown) Vance. Married Robertson Topp on April 27, 1837. Lived in Memphis. Died there in July 1895; buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
