Description:Frame is velvet covered wood with gilt metal fittings and gilt inner frame.

Woman in a blue dress seated in a red chair holding a red rose in her right hand. Her left arm is wrapped around a chubby boy in a red velvet coat.
History:Painted in New York City. On paper attached to the back of the ivory is written "Painted by Thos. S. Officer New York, Octr 20th 1847." This is clearly related to a full sized portrait by Henry Inman. See Inman book, front cover and page 121.
