Description:Sitter is head and bust level woman (young) with dark hair covered with an elaborate lace bonnet finished with blue ribbons (bows on top and streamers on side). Her lace collar is fastened in front with a brooch and her shoulders are also covered with lace caps over a dark dress.
History of Work:Owner purchased this portrait at an estate sale where it hung in the dining room of a friend's house. Seller did not know origin.
Notes: Owner bought this painting because she loved it. This young sitter was probably painted in the early 1800s from the style of her clothing.
