Description:Full portrait of Maria Louisa Kissam (Mrs. William Henry) Vanderbilt is sitting in a chair wearing a purple velvet suit with a fur collar and a white ruffled blouse.
History of Work:Portrait was a gift to University by one of her grandsons, Harold Stirling Vanderbilt. The gold leaf frame is quite ornate.
Notes:Maria Louisa Kissam was the wife of William Henry Vanderbilt, the oldest of four sons of Cornelius Vanderbilt. She was the mother of nine children.
