Description:Frontal bust-length of young woman dressed in a white v-cut dress trimmed in lace around the neckline. She has auburn curls, blue eyes, and noticeably pink cheeks. The painting style for her costume and multi-clored background is loose and almost impressionistic. The distinguishing element is a white hat, a pill-box, cloud-like affair adorned with greenery and groups of pearls on the right side of the frame.
History:The work was done in Savannah and derived from a wedding photo taken in 1886.
Notes:Sitter is owner's paternal grandmother.
