  • Description:Young child, aged 3, in a white dress and undershorts with a blue sash at the waist. His arms are upraised, with his right hand hidden by his head. He appears to be seated on a sofa.
  • History:Painted posthumously. Work was restored (in Nashville) to repair a tear created during a move.
  • Notes:Subject was the younger brother of Mary Elizabeth Napoleon Armstrong, #245, who lived in the Belmont area of Nashville. Subject (1872-1875) drowned in the Cumberland River at age 3.
