History:Subject born in 1919 in Nashville, Tennessee. She loved the out-of-doors. She married Pentice Cooper in 1950 who was elected governor of state in 1939. He served until 1944. They had three sons: William Prentice III, James Hayes Shofner Cooper, John Normont Powell Cooper. She served as President NSCDA-TN and the DAR. She worked in New York for the United Nations Department of Public Information.
