  • Description:Knee-length standing of an older man with white hair dressed in a business suit, including a vest. His hat is in his right hand and his overcoat, black like his suit, is draped over his left arm. "W.B. Newman 1930" is written in the lower left corner.
  • Notes:Starting as a grocery drummer, eventually the subject owned Noel (flour) Mills with his brother Edwin. At the turn of the 18th-19th century flour was Nashville's number one export. Subject is the owner's great-grandfather.
