  • Description:Elegant subject in light-colored formal lace dress with cameo pin; a leaning picture frame, red drape and sky in background.
  • History:Passed down through the Keeble, Wendel and Murfree families.
  • Notes:Subject born in Old Jefferson, Tennessee in 1814. She is the daughter of Walter Keeble, Jr. and Sara Jane Hudson Keeble, who had huge holdings of land and chattel in that area. Subject married David Deadrick Wendel, son of the second mayor of Murfreesboro, TN. Her brother, Edwin Keeble, who lived across the street from her, was mayor of Murfreesboro and in the Confederate House of Representatives from 1864 to 1865. Subject died in 1873.
