  • Description:Young man with dark hair parted on his left, wearing a dark jacket and high-collar white shirt with a white cravat. The cravat is decorated with a diamond motif and fastened with a jeweled tie-back.
  • History:Portrait was a gift to the subject's mother. Artist's work is listed in the Smithsonian Art Inventories Catalog.
  • Notes:Subject was born 1873 and died 1970. Diary of the subject records commission date of portrait at a cost of $10.00. Keen practiced law in Huntsville, TN with James F. Baker, grandfather of U.S Senator Howard Baker. Keen married Esther Walton of Rugby, TN and they had 5 children. Keen was later in the insurance business in Chattanooga.
