Description:Painting depicts the bay stallion Longfellow facing left in a field. There is a pale muted gray/blue sky with a pale green and tan muted foreground. Longfellow was a bay stallion with a star, stripe, and snip. He had a left hind sock to his fetlock and a right hind white coronet band.
History:Frame is a giltwood molding with brass plaque inscribed, “Longfellow/1867/Imp./Leamington-Nantura by Brawner’s Eclipse/Belle Meade.” Portrait is signed in lower right corner. Original By Thomas S. Scott who was a British artist who lived from 1854-1927. Copy of Work completed by Treviranus.
