History:A copy of a painting by Andrea Appiani (1754-1817) done in 1805 as "Coronation Portrait of Napoleon as King of Italy," Musee National de l'd, Aix, Foundation Gourgaud. Purchased by Adelica Acklen in 1853 in France, according to an 1888 newspaper account. Reportedly one of Joseph A. S. Acklen's favorites, it hung in a downstairs bedroom.
