Notes: Born April 20, 1807 in Davidson County, Tennessee, son of John Topp and Comfort (Everitt) Topp. Married Elizabeth Little Vance, daughter of Samuel Vance and Elizabeth (Brown) Vance of Clarksville, Tennessee, on April 27. 1837. Lawyer; poineer railroad promoter and large land owner; early benefactor of Memphis, where he moved after his marriage. Built and owned the Gayoso Hotel in Memphis.
