History:Lloyd Branson was a friend and classmate of Mrs. Folsom's brother Franklin Walter Taylor, at East Tennessee University, Knoxville. He was invited to the Taylor home, ""Greenwood"" at Russellville, Tennesse in the summer of 1873. The Taylors commissioned Branson to paint portraits of members of their family including themselves and at least four of their children, Catherine Ann Taylor, Sarah Ellen Taylor Folsom, William George Taylor, and Franklin Walter Taylor.
Notes:Mrs. Folsom (1848-1920) was the daughter of Franklin William and Eliza Jane Graham Taylor, Russellville, Tennessee and the wife of Major George Whitfield Folsom, Morristown, Tennessee. The portrait of a brother and sister, F. W. Taylor and Catherine Ann Taylor (Miller), are in the possession of the Calvin M. McClung Historical Collection, Knox County Public Library and were displayed in a special Lloyd Branson exhibit, Celebrating a Life in Tennessee Art, Lloyd Branson (1853-1925), November 7, 2015-March 20, 2016.
