History:Painted in Nashville, Tennessee. Sarah Kelley graduated from Peabody College about 1935, failed to find work, did not marry, suffered a nervous breakdown and entered Central State Hospital where she died while still in her twenties (from Jane Harper, a great-niece of the artist).
