  • Description:Subject is seated in a wood-trimmed red upholstered chair and facing very slightly left. She is wearing a very dark dress with a blue-grey fringed scarf at the neck caught up with a dark stone pin. Her dark hair is parted in the middle and covered by a cap also in blue-grey, with ruffles around her face and with blue and silver ribbon trim and a blue bow appearing on her left shoulder. She is looking directly at the viewer.
  • Notes:Ann Grundy was the wife of Felix Grundy (1777-1840), Attorney, Politician, and U. S. Attorney General under President Van Buren. Mrs. Grundy, a member of First Presbyterian Church, has been often given credit for starting Nashville's first Sunday School.
