Description:Rosy-cheeked man in black formal attire with high white collared shirt. His right hand is inserted into his jacket, "Napoleonic-style." His straight brown hair is parted in the middle. His eyes are light-colored, possibly blue.
History:Restored by Cumberland Art Conservation Center in the late 1980s. Working from a cast, the artist began the painting three days after subject's death.
Notes:Subject born in Dublin, Ireland in 1778 and died in Nashville June 23, 1846. Subject was artist's father-in-law.
