Description:Oval waist-length three-quarter slightly right profile of awoman in a green velvet off-the- shoulder dress with short, full sleeves with white lining. Her right hand is raised toward her throat. Her black hair is parted in the middle and ringlets fall behind her ears almost to her shoulders. Her eyes are dark and wide-set. She wears no visible jewelry, although her left hand is out of the frame.

Notes:Subject lived in Pulaski, TN. She married William Taylor Mason and they lived in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Her second marriage was to Gen. Jospeh B. Palmer (whose daughter has his portrait). They lived on Main Street in Murfreesboro starting in 1869. Owner's sister, who resides in Greenwich, CT, has portrait of William Taylor Mason.
