  • Description:Waist-length three-quarter left profile of a young man in a naval officerÕs coat with an exaggerated collar and epaulette visible on his left shoulder. Four brass buttons are also visible down the front of the coat. His left hand is on his waist, and his right arm is extended and restingon a table (?) surface. His hair is sandy blonde-red. His shirt and tie are white.
  • Notes: Subject was a Commodore in the U.S. Navy and Commander in Chief of the Pacific fleet. He fired the first gun in the War of 1812.
