  • Description:Three-quarter length standing of a young man, reportedly 18 years of age, in a CSA officerÕs uniform (Major?). His light brown wavy hair is parted on his left. His right hand rests on a table and his left rests on his (saber?) at his hip. His cuffs and collar are red, and his belt is navy blue and red.
  • History:This work must be a copy as the artist was born in 1901. Adrian Lamb studied at the Art Students League in New York City and at the Academie Julian in Paris before embarking on a career as a portraitist. Lamb's works are found in many collections, including the White House, the Smithsonian Institution, the U.S. Naval Academy, Harvard University, and the Supreme Court of the United States.   • Notes:Subject was the father of Anne Dallas Dudley. The family was from Philadelphia originally, and it is said that the subject faced some of his brothers across the Civil War battlefield.
