Description:Waist-length of a young woman in a white dress with a blue waist sash. Her amber/emerald earrings, necklace, and brooche, and drape chain complement her dark auburn hair worn up in curls. Her eyes are dark brown and her complexion creamy with slightly pink cheeks.
History:The original of this work, a companion to #756, was painted by Ralph E. W. Earl on mahogany board in 1828. It survives in Chaleston, SC with the owner of this copy's sister. As a companion piece, it is admitted to this survey even though its creation date exceeds the established criteria. The artist Stark is from Gallatin, TN.
Notes:Subject lived from 1809-1852 and married Stockley Donelson II (see #756). She died at Cleaveland Hall. She was the daughter of Dr. William Pitt Lawrence.
