Description:Portrait of woman in grey/black dress with white collar, frontal view from waist up--bow at neck, no jewelry
Notes:Subject was the daughter of Jessie Haynie, whose horse, Maria, was never defeated though Andrew Jackson raced several horses against her. Jackson is said to have reported on his deathbed that his only regret in life was not defeated Haynie's Maria. Harriett married John Franklin Sanderson, a nephew of Isaac Franklin, in 1852. She died within 2 years of her marriage and had only one child--the current owner's great-grandfather. The owner inherited the portrait from her mother.
