Jackson is said to have reported on his deathbed that his only regret in life was not defeated Haynie's Maria. Harriett married John Franklin Sanderson, a nephew of Isaac Franklin, in 1852. She died within 2 years of her marriage and had only one child--the current owner's great-grandfather. The owner inherited the portrait from her mother.
