Description:Slightly right profile of a man in cleric's clothing: white, rectangular (voile?) collar and black robe. He has blue eyes and brown hair. His right hand rests on what appears to be an open Bible that rests on a red cloth. One-half of a lamp (?) is on the left side of the frame, and a red drape is in the upper right hand corner.
History:Work has been cleaned.
Notes:Subject, originally a Presbyterian, converted to the Episcopal Church and moved to Oregon where he became the first U.S. Episcopal bishop of Washington and Oregon. He died ca. 1867 from yellow fever while en route via New York to his prior home in Georgia.
