Description:Waist-length three-quarter right profile of a heavy-set man wearing a dark jacket with large lapels and a white shirt with a white bow tie. He has sideburns to the bottom of his ears, ruddy cheeks, and a slight double chin. His straight hair appears to be combed over to his left to minimize a receding hairline.
History:Cumberland Art Conservation Center did restoration in 1988-89.
Notes:Sitter was born in 1766 and died in 1825. He was the founder of Franklin, TN and the man for whom Maury County is named. More documentation in the file.
