  • Description:Young CSA artillery captain in uniform. Right arm rests on a side table with a red tablecloth. His cap and book are on the table. Seated, his left leg is crossed over his right and his left hand rests in his lap.
  • History:Photograph was probably done by a Knoxville photographer. Sticker on back "Captain Hugh Lawson McClung killed at the battle of Fort Donelson."
  • Notes:Subject was a CSA artillery officer who re-established his law practice after the war. He died in 1871 in a train wreck west of Nashville.
