  • Description:Young woman with very wavy dark brown hair parted in the middle and falling just to her shoulders. She has large, wide-set dark brown eyes and is wearing pearl earrings and necklace, painted with a transparent quality. No other clothing is visible, as the bottom of this oval bust-length portrait is rendered with a blurring brush technique. The background is light olive green. The canvas has noticeable tears on her chin and by her left eye.
  • History:Work was in a Franklin attic for approx. 75 years. Owner purchased it through an estate sale, the family of which was known to him. Restored by Cumberland Art Conservation in 2006, which allowed the artist and date to be discovered.
