Description:Pencil on paper drawing made by artist of child's face before artist actually painted a three-quarter length portrait. Unusual today because artists generally take pictures to use for portraits. Hard for the subject, particularly since it involved many sittings.
History:Goode P. Davis also painted the portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt that hangs at Hyde Park. This portrait commissioned by subject's parents.
