Description:Horizontal tableau of seven men in various forms of clerical clothing. The two central figures are contrasted by their clothing. The bishop-like man center left is dressed in finery, including a crown-like cap, and the central figure on the right is dressed in simple Franciscan robes and holds a flag.
History:Story accompanying work is that it was found rolled on the body of a dead sailor, who had presumably stolen it for money. Joseph Acklen, the owner's great-grandfather bought it in New Orleans.
