Description:Three-quarter left portrait of an older man who is looking forward at the viewer. His grey hair (or possibly wig) is parted in the middle and falls to his shoulders. He has a white stock over his coat, which has many buttons all down the front. It appears that he has a darker cape over his shoulders--all may be part of his vestments. The lower portion of the frame shows where it might have been oval at some time; however, now the frame matches the others (Luther White and Mary Ann Holbrook White).
History:Painted in Braintree, Mass. (near Boston)
Notes:Maybe these three family portraits (Luther White and Mary Ann Holbrook White) were painted at the same time before Caleb died.
