  • Notes:Married Susan Ann Hobson. Father of Hewitt Hobson Wheless. Wesley Wheless (b. 1823, d. 1861) in 1846, took his orphaned siblings to live in Nashville, where they were reared and educated. He married in 1849 in Nashville, Tn., Susan Hobson (b. 1823, d. ca 1910), and had two sons, Hewitt Hobson Wheless of Shreveport, LA and Wesley N. Wheless Jr of Augusta GA. Wesley was a banker and died in Liverpool, England of Typhoid fever, while reportedly taking bank funds out of the country during the war. He built an imposing 16 room Gothic mansion in 1857, that later burned, on what is today Wheless Street in north Nashville. He is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville. A grandson of Hewitt Hobson Wheless was Hewitt Terrell Wheless, Lieutenant General, USAF during WWII. http://genforum.genealogy.com/wheless/messages/276.html
