  • Description: Bust miniature of the subject as a young man, facing three-quarter right with brown eyes looking somewhat to the left. His hair is dark and curly, and he has bushy eyebrows and long, curved sideburns. His coat is dark over a white high-collared shirt and white tie.

  • Notes: Ephraim H. Foster, 1794-1854, Nashville, Tennessee, served as private secretary to Andrew Jackson during the Creek War. An 1824 large oil on canvas portrait of the Foster family, also by artist Earl, is in the art collection at the Cheekwood Museum, Nashville, Tennessee.
