History:It is presumed that this miniature and the companion one of her husband were brought to the United States in 1833 by John and Sarah's son Hugh and his wife Alicia Francis Bell when they came to this country from Ballybay, Ireland.
Notes:Hugh Jackson and James Jackson of the "Forks of the Cypress" in Florence, AL were first cousins. James came to Nashville from Ireland in 1803 and was a prosperous merchant. He moved to Florence, AL and built the plantation known as the Forks of the Cypress. Hugh and his family came from Ireland, landed in New Orleans and were traveling up to Florence, AL on the Mississippi River, when Hugh died of cholera in April, 1833. Alicia and her six children continued on to the Forks of the Cypress where her seventh child, Mary Alicia Jackson, was born in September 1833. Alicia stayed in Florence until James Jackson died in 1840 and then moved to Nashville, TN.
