History:It is not known when this portrait was painted, either at the end of his life or after his death in 1927. The portrait passed from his wife, Jean Gibson Morgan, to his son, Joseph Bedinger Morgan, Jr., to his grandson, Joseph Morgan Van Zandt, and finally to his great-granddaughter, the present owner.
Notes:Joseph Bedinger Morgan was the husband of Jean Gibson (Morgan) and was the founder and President of the Morgan and Hamilton Company in Nashville, TN.
